Canterbury Highlights London Trip December 2019

In December I went to London with my family. But before arriving in London, we made a short stop in Canterbury. We were only there for a few hours, but enough time to do some exploring/sightseeing. Since the stop in Canterbury was unplanned and we were kind of tired from the trip, we just saw some of the city and did a bit of shopping. It wasn’t too interesting, but I do want to share some cool spots we found in Canterbury with you.

The first thing we did when we arrived in Canterbury was to go hunting for this cute little candy store. My brothers girlfriend went to Canterbury before and she could remember this really fun candy store. She found the adres online and we decided to stop by. The shop is called Hardys Sweet Shop. The shop window was full of mega size candies! Absolutely adorable!

Hardys sells a lot of typical British candy, but they also have a section with American candy. I was drooling in there! I didn’t buy any candy, because my stomach was so full after the holidays, but I now regret it. It looked all so amazing!

After we visited Hardys, we went to get some food. Of course we had to start our trip off with some unhealthy food, so we went to Burger King for fast food! After we ate we went shopping on High Street.

We popped into a Superdrug. Visiting the UK’s typical cosmetics stores like Superdrug and Boots was on the bucket list for this trip. I’ve never been to any of these cosmetics stores before and now as a beauty lover I just had to check out what they sell in the UK, since they sell very different brands than we do here in the Netherlands. They were just loading the shelves with the discounted items and we immediately attacked. We got some discounted gift sets. I got several sets from Skinny Dip, NYX and Superdrug’s own brand for only a total of £13! We got lucky!

We found a Harry Potter store in one of the side streets. I’m not really a Harry Potter fan and I have only seen like one of the movies, but this store was really fun to visit. House of Secrets it was called and is located at Mercy Lane 15. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, definitely visit this store in Canterbury!

I have seen the first Fantastic Beasts movie and they were also selling merch from that movie. The store wasn’t that big, but they were definitely selling some cool items!

By the time we were done shopping it was already dark. We did went by the beautiful Cathedral, but unfortunately it was under construction. Very unfortunate, but since it was dark already it wasn’t that spectacular.

That’s pretty much all we did in Canterbury. We only had about 4 to 5 hours, so that was all we could fit into the day. After that we continued our trip to London and arrived in our hotel in Slough later that night. A travel report about our days in London will follow! Stay tuned!
